Status: Non-exempt, Part-time as needed

Salary: $17/hr DOE


Catholic Community Services of Utah provides help and creates hope for thousands of people of all beliefs who are most in need in our community through Refugee Resettlement, Homeless Services and CCS of Northern Utah programs.

Job Description:

Work with clients providing interpretation, translation, and transportation services for medical appointments, employment assessment, health assessment and other meetings. 

Responsibilities include:

  1. Provide professional interpretation in medical or non-medical settings.
  2. Provide transportation when needed to medical appointments. Follow the vehicle policy.
  3. Notify client(s) of their appointment and keep all appointments.
  4. Keep accurate timesheets and be able to turn them in on time.
  5. Participate in mandatory monthly meetings and notify supervisor of any concern regarding services.
  6. Participate in Bridging the Gap training and other medical interpreter training activities.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned.


Skills, knowledge and abilities:

  1. Must own a private vehicle, have a driver's license, 50/100 liability auto coverage, possess and maintain a clean driving record, and be 21 years of age or older.
  2. Must be physically present with client at the time of appointment.
  3. Fluent in reading, writing and speaking in English and language being interpreted.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively.
  5. Ability to work independently in a safe and appropriate manner with little supervision.
  6. Familiarity with some medical terminology and basic understanding of health care system.
  7. Demonstrated good judgment when dealing with others. Good public relations skills.
  8. Adheres to deadlines and appointments.
  9. Must maintain confidentiality regarding clients' personal information.
  10. Skills of time management and prioritizing.
  11. Email and internet computer skills. Must have and use an email address.


Education, training and or experience:  

  1. High School diploma.
  2. Previous interpretation and translation experience preferred.
  3. Must pass a BCI/FBI background check.
